Saturday 22nd September 2018, 7pm - SOLD OUT
Croft and City is heading home to Tiree for a very special, not to be missed, one off autumn event. In collaboration with KinoVino, London’s leading pop up dining outfit combining food and cinema, we are thrilled to bring you a night of film and food with very special guest chef Henrietta Inman, a classically trained pastry chef, food writer and cooking teacher who specialises in using natural and seasonal ingedients.
Working with local suppliers, such as Fresh Off the Croft and Tiree Lobster & Crab, Croft and City and Henrietta will bring you a night in celebration of Tiree produce, with inspiration along the way from the 1940s cinema classic Whisky Galore, the charming and uplifting story about a whisky filled ship going aground off a Hebridean island.
What you can expect on the night…
On arrival at the Hynish Centre, a beautiful and historic Tiree landmark looking out to sea over the Hynish pier, you will be welcomed with a choice of two cocktails; one whisky based, and another made with Tyree Gin, one of our kind sponsors. Your cocktail will be accompanied by canapé style snacks.
After a little snacking and drinking it will be time to settle into the lounge for a screening of the original 1940s Whisky Galore. After the film we'll move onto the main attraction; Henrietta's cooking.
About the menu
We will serve a set menu of four courses, details of which will be shared early August.
It will include fish, meat, vegetables, eggs, and everything else we can get our hands on to make sure as much produce as possible is from the island.
You can expect Henrietta’s incredible pastry and baking skills and her instinct for working with vegetables to feature strongly. There will also be some references to the film, and perhaps a few traditional Tiree culinary surprises.
Dietary requirements can be catered for but please inform us when you make your booking, and at least 48 hours before the event.
General admission: £42

About Whisky Galore (1949)
The much loved Ealing Comedy classic tells the story of a ship carrying 50,000 barrels of whisky running aground off the coast of a fictional Scottish island. The island’s residents, undeterred by the efforts of the Customs and Excise men to thwart them, band together to retrieve the bounty in a heartening tale that captures the warmth and wit of island communities. With tact and subtlety, Whisky Galore presents a glimpse into life in the Hebrides that still resonates to this day.
